The Journey

Getting messy in this kitchen!  I love (most of the time) working in the kitchen with my littles...We are working on some Halloween cookies here and as you can see the bigger one really can be quite adverse to sticky textures.  So interesting how both boys are so different! The other one really loves slimy and sticky - well...anything!  And, the big one is so picky about everything!  Even at 3...and now at 6...but, we keep playing, experiencing, and making things with "all the feels" because it's so important to work through them and remember that we can wash them off - if it get's too bad!  Working on this sense of touch is one of the principles of Waldorf Education and I love how I got to revisit the 12 senses while preparing to be on my friend, LoriBeth's podcast - Elevating Motherhood. This is an AMAZING podcast, resource, and treat for your ears on iTunes and where ever you can get your podcast on!   Check out our upcoming episode :)   ...

Re-introducing HaystackHome

We are back! In just a couple of weeks, we will be back to school - and, this year (again) we are going to stay home.  We've been juggling all the balls that Covid 19, work, and raising 2 boys has thrown us.  Now, we are planning on simplifying life by choosing to stay at home, even though the "stay at home orders" have been lifted in Hawaii.  By continuing education in a hands-on environment within our own family bubble.  We don't need to be 6 feet apart with our own children and we don't need to wear masks all day in our own homes...thank goodness.  It's hard enough to get my 6 year old to wear a shirt - it's so hard for him to wear a mask.  Thankfully, we have the ability to stay home and hopefully I will have the strength and determination to take on this enormous task!  Teaching is hard.  Teaching your own children is really hard.  Wish me luck and patience.
